This article explores how languages encode abstract concepts, such as emotions, through metaphorical and metonymical reasoning. Drawing on Conceptual Metaphor and Metonymy Theory, with a particular focus on motivation and embodiment, this research examines how bodily and cultural factors influence the conceptualisation of anger in Spanish. This interdisciplinary study compares the metaphors and metonymies associated with this emotion in Spanish with the conceptualisation that speakers from Colombia and Spain have of it. Results show how metaphors and metonymies of anger in Spanish are grounded in physiological changes, such as heat and muscle tension and reveal more similarities than differences in the perception of anger among Spanish speakers from both countries.eng
