En los últimos años se ha desarrollado la histeroscopia desde el punto de vista tanto diagnóstico como terapéutico, mientras ha sido llevada desde los quirófanos hasta el consultorio. La histeroscopia permite con una mayor precisión defi nir el diagnóstico etiológico de un síntoma muy importante en la mujer mayor como es el sangrado uterino anormal. La mujer en edad de postmenopausia, que utiliza o no terapia hormonal, puede ser en algunas circunstancias valorada con la ayuda de la histeroscopia, enfatizando que no es un estudio para uso rutinario.
In the last years, hysteroscopy has evolved from the diagnostic point of view to the therapeutic, being taken from the operating room to the doctor’s offi ce. Hysteroscopy allows, with a higher precision, the defi nition of the etiologic diagnosis of a very important sign in the mature woman, which is the abnormal uterine bleeding. A woman in postmenopausal age who takes or not hormonal therapy should be examined with the help of the hysteroscopy in some circumstances focusing on that it is not a study for daily use.
