El presente texto aborda, a modo de ensayo, una revisión analítico-histórica del Derecho Romano y sus aportaciones sustanciales en la tradición jurídica de occidente. Así, sustenta la tesis de que existen otras instituciones y conceptos que han transcendido los contenidos del derecho privado para irradiar la práctica judicial y las instituciones básicas de la cultura jurídica en occidente.
This essay is an analytical-historical review of Roman Law and its substantial contributions to the legal tradition of the West. Thus, it supports the thesis that there are other institutions and concepts that have transcended the contents of private law to irradiate judicial practice and the basic institutions of legal culture in the West.
