En la literatura latinoamericana del siglo XXI notamos que hay una serie de escrituras marcadas por la relación entre el medio ambiente, los desperdicios y la caracterización de paisajes hostiles en zonas rurales. La ecología y el medio ambiente cruzan las narrativas instalando escenas de desastres, contagio, catástrofes y contaminación como podemos ver en las obras Bajo este sol tremendo (2009) de Carlos Busqued, Una casa junto al tragadero (2017) y Río negro de Mariano Quirós y en “Chaco” incluido en Nuestro mundo muerto (2016) de Liliana Colanzi. ¿Cómo leer la literatura especulativa en relación con el weird en la zona del Chaco? ¿Cómo articulamos este weird y la rareza en el espacio rural del Chaco y las políticas medioambientales arrasadoras? Estas ficciones conectan la naturaleza y la literatura, y lo destructivo aflora en el medio ambiente que se ve amenazado, siendo claro ejemplo el monstruo acuático. Este trabajo se propone trazar un recorrido por la zona literaria del Chaco weird teniendo en cuenta el cruce entre territorio, monstruosidad y ecología. Se consideran algunos enfoques teóricos para cuestionar lo insólito y weird que, a la vez, dialogan y  friccionan con los desastres naturales y las políticas de la destrucción (Heffes, 2013) y materialidades vibrantes (Bennet, 2022) en tierras de trance (Anderman, 2018).
In 21st century Latin American literature is characterized by the relationship between the environment, garbage and the characterization of hostile landscapes in rural areas. Ecology and the environment cross the narratives installing scenes of disasters, catastrophes and pollution as in Bajo este sol tremendo (2009) by Carlos Busqued, Una casa junto al tragadero(2017) and Río negro by Mariano Quirós and "Chaco" included in Nuestro mundo muerto (2016) by Liliana Colanzi. How to read speculative literature on weird in the Chaco area of Latin America? How do we articulate this weird and the eerie in the rural area of the Chaco and the devastating   environmental policies? These fictions connets nature and the destructive is threatened in the environment being the aguatic monster the best  example. This work aims to trace a cartography through the literary area of weird Chaco taking into account the crossing between territory, monstrosity and ecology. Some theoretical approaches are considered to question the unusual and weird dialogue and friction with natural disasters and policies of destruction (Heffes, 2013) and vibrant materialities (Bennet, 2022) in trance lands (Anderman, 2018).
