El presente artículo es el resultado de los proyectos de investigación: “Representaciones socioculturales de paz que desde el territorio re-crea el pueblo indígena Zenú en el resguardo colonial de San Andrés de Sotavento, años 1970 a 2017. Percepciones sobre la intervención del trabajo social en el ámbito comunitario y sus aportes a la construcción de paz en comunidades de Montería, Coveñas y Tuchin”. Estos procesos se fundamentaron metodológicamente desde los enfoques comprensivos e interpretativos, reconociendo que la realidad social es un constructo. Teóricamente, se trabajó desde las teorías de paz, representaciones sociales y territorio. Los hallazgos muestran que, para los Zenú, la paz está ligada a la apropiación y empoderamiento de su cultura e identidad, al reconocimiento real de la diversidad étnica, al fortalecimiento de ejercicios de autonomía y autodeterminación; pero, sobre todo, con apuestas de desarrollo local. En lo atinente a las incitativas de construcción de paz, se evidenció que estas se sustentan en elementos como su identidad. Para ellos su historia, tradición oral; el vestido, los sistemas curativos, la espiritualidad; el territorio, y los “usos y costumbres”, son elementos constitutivos del ser Zenú. En ese marco, la recuperación y organización de su territorio como apuesta de construcción de paz ha traído consigo un proceso de revitalización de su cultura. Así mismo, les ha representado la oportunidad de pensarse su futuro y, a partir de ejercicios participativos, construir su “plan vida”, entendido como una herramienta de empoderamiento que les permite plasmar su visión de desarrollo y organización comunitaria.
This article is the result of the projects of Socio-cultural representations of peace that the Zenú indigenous people in the colonial reservation of San Andrés de Sotavento re-create from the territory from 1970 to 2017 and Perceptions on the intervention of social work in the community environment and its contributions to peace building in communities of Montería, Coveñas, and Tuchín. This process was methodologically based on the comprehensive and interpretative approaches, recognizing that social reality is a construct. Theoretically, we worked from the theories of peace, social representations and territory. The findings show that, for the Zenú, peace is linked to the appropriation and empowerment of their culture and identity, to the real recognition of ethnic diversity, to the strengthening of autonomy and self-determination exercises, but above all with local development.  With regard to peace-building initiatives, it became evident that these are based on elements such as their identity, since for them, their history, oral tradition, clothing, healing systems, spirituality, territory, and "uses and customs" are constitutive elements of being Zenú. In this context, the recovery and organization of their territory as a peace-building effort has brought with it a process of revitalization of their culture. It has also given them the opportunity to think about their future, and through participatory exercises they have been able to build their "life plan", understood as a tool for empowerment through which they were able to shape their vision of development and community organization.
