Funciones discursivas de las formas adjetivales con reminiscencia verbal

Abstract

El presente trabajo se propone estudiar, desde un enfoque cognitivo-prototípico (Langacker, 1987; 2008; Diver, 1995; Hopper, 1988; 1998) que propugna una gramática emergente del discurso, la categoría “adjetivo”, en tanto estrategia que construye significados en prácticas discursivas. Si bien el adjetivo ha sido mayormente asociado, en las gramáticas, al sustantivo, en este trabajo se presta atención a la cercanía categorial entre el adjetivo y el verbo. Ese comportamiento verbal del adjetivo, que denominamos “reminiscencia verbal”, le imprime una complejidad a la zona nominal. La estructura eventiva que implica el verbo construye una situación que involucra actantes que interactúan, un tiempo, una modalidad, un perfilamiento. Al integrar como todo verbo un evento, abre la puerta a la construcción de una narración o una argumentación.  El corpus (ver Corpus) está constituido por textos narrativos y argumentativos. Este cuerpo de datos incluye, en el subcorpus de textos narrativos, cuatro novelas latinoamericanas del siglo. En total, se analizan 200 páginas, aproximadamente 90.000 palabras. La metodología de trabajo es cualitativa y cuantitativa, por cuanto considera frecuencias relativas de uso de acuerdo con ciertos parámetros seleccionados a partir de las características contextuales de uso de la forma bajo estudio

The present work aims to study, from a cognitive-prototypical approach (Langacker, 1987; 2008, Diver, 1995, Hopper, 1988; 1998) that advocates an emergent grammar of discourse, the adjective category, as a strategy that constructs meanings in discursive practices. Although the adjective has mostly been associated with the noun in grammars, in this work attention is paid to the categorical closeness between the adjective and the verb. This verbal behavior of the adjective, which we call “verbal reminiscence”, gives complexity to the nominal area. The eventive structure implied by the verb constructs a situation that involves interacting actants, a tense, a modality, a profile. By integrating an event like any verb, it opens the door to the construction of speech acts that can constitute a narrative or an argument. The corpus is made up of narrative and argumentative texts. This body of data includes, in the subcorpus of narrative texts, four Latin American novels of the century. In total, 200 pages, approximately 90,000 words, are analyzed. The work methodology is qualitative and quantitative, since it considers relative frequencies of use according to certain parameters selected from the contextual characteristics of use of the form under study.
