Patrimonio bibliográfico mexiquense: testimonios de bibliotecas conventuales novohispanas del Valle de Toluca y alrededores

El artículo pretende visibilizar y valorar el patrimonio bibliográfico mexiquense. ¿Cuál es el patrimonio bibliográfico mexiquense?¿Cuál es su origen y cuál ha sido su historia hasta hoy? Dentro de ese patrimonio ¿Cuáles son los ejemplares que testimonian la existencia y la composición de las bibliotecas novohispanas en lo que hoy es el territorio del Estado de México? Éstas son las preguntas que han motivado esta investigación, las cuales se responden a partir de una reconstrucción histórica de Toluca. De tal forma, se explica la presencia de las diversas bibliotecas conventuales franciscanas y carmelitas que existieron en el actual territorio mexiquense; así como los testimonios de procedencia de ejemplares conservados en la Biblioteca Pública Central del Estado de México y en la Biblioteca del Museo Virreinal de Zinacantepec, a partir de los cuales identificamos las bibliotecas existentes en Toluca y sus alrededores, entre los siglos XV y XIX. Se explica también el recorrido histórico de esas colecciones de libros, hasta su integración a las instituciones públicas que hoy los albergan. The article aims to make visible and valuable the bibliographic heritage of theState of Mexico. What is the bibliographic heritage of this state? Which is its origin and what has been its history until today? Within this heritage, what are the books that testify the existence and composition of New Spain's libraries in what is now the territory of the State of Mexico? These are the questions that have motivated this investigation, which are answered from a historicalreconstruction of Toluca. Therefore, the presence of the various Franciscan and Carmelite conventual libraries that existed in the current territory of the State of Mexico is explained, as well as the provenance testimonies of exemplars preserved in the Central Public Library of the State of Mexico and in the Library of the Viceregal Museum of Zinacantepec, from which we identify the existing libraries in Toluca and its surroundings from the 15th to the 19th century. The historical route of these book collections is also explained, until they became part to the public institutions that house them today.
