Hostel positioning framework and marketing strategies for a successful instagram business account

Tourism market understanding grants tourist accommodation owners to turn data, trends, and insights into competitive advantages; analogously, social media marketing understanding and use permits brands to create and reach communities to position themselves on the internet. This paper presents the positioning framework and strategies placed by Capitel Hostel to fulfill its objective of success, and the steps that were followed to start the official Instagram account of the Human Sciences Faculty of The University of Cartagena. Furthermore, findings indicate that the correct action approaches of both projects improved overall profitably of the hostel and boosted the image of the faculty and its courses. La Universidad de Cartagena, en el marco de las dinámicas de autoevaluación y autorregulación, incorpora la mejora continua de sus procesos desde una perspectiva autocrítica, objetiva y rigurosa, asumiendo la responsabilidad que nos impone la acreditación en alta calidad otorgada por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional. A partir del reconocimiento frente a los avances significativos obtenidos como resultado de estos procesos de evaluación, adquirimos esta distinción como un reto ineludible para la consolidación de nuestra Institución como una de las mejores de la región Caribe y del país, con proyección en el ámbito internacional. En este sentido, la Institución continúa fortaleciendo sus procesos académicos y administrativos, como resultado de la política de Aseguramiento de la Calidad Institucional, y contribuye desde los distintos ámbitos al desarrollo de la región y el país desde todos los niveles de formación, con pertinencia y una perspectiva internacional e impacto medido desde el abordaje de distintas áreas del conocimiento. Todo esto con una oferta variada en sus programas académicos, proyectos de extensión, de investigación e internacionalización, coherente con las dinámicas de nuestro proceso de autoevaluación, permanente, sistematizado, anualizado y asumido por todos los estamentos como un compromiso institucional. La acreditación de alta calidad, entendida como un proceso voluntario eminentemente académico, se constituye para la Universidad de Cartagena como un mecanismo para la búsqueda de mayores niveles de calidad, por lo tanto, nuestra Institución recientemente recibió la Acreditación Institucional Internacional producto de un proceso de evaluación internacional, que nos permitió comprender que a partir de estos procesos surgen las mayores motivaciones para aunar esfuerzos desde lo institucional, local, nacional e internacional con la finalidad de construir entre todos una sólida cultura de calidad. Para la construcción de este informe se tuvieron en cuenta las expresiones de la comunidad académica interna y externa de la Universidad de Cartagena, contando con la participación de estudiantes, docentes, administrativos, directivos, egresados y empleadores en representación de nuestros grupos de interés y aliados estratégicos. Para la elaboración del informe se consideraron diversas fuentes de oportunidades de mejora y planes de aseguramiento de la calidad productos de la autoevaluación nacional e internacional para mostrar el acercamiento a los objetivos y metas propuestas.

Due to the popularity of the city of Cartagena de Indias, there was increasing demand for the existence of establishments such as hotels, where services and products of optimum quality will be presented, which responded to all those needs demanded by those who came to this beautiful city to enjoy and delight in its charms. Thus, in 1993 the renowned Hotel Cartagena Plaza began operations, initially consisting of 2 towers; Torre Bolivar, and Torre Plaza, with a total of 313 rooms. Since then, this company is characterized by the comfort of each of its rooms and spaces, also by the service of its staff, who provide personalized attention and excellent dedication to meet the needs and expectations of their guests who upon arriving in Cartagena decide to enjoy their best moments, either for leisure or business, in the facilities of the Hotel Cartagena Plaza, where they trust that they can rest and sleep.

The culmination of our internship not only marks the end of a formative chapter, but also the beginning of an enriching journey full of significant learning. By enhancing our language skills, we have overcome communication barriers and turned theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom into practical skills applicable to real-life situations. The experience gained in fields related to our business training has been invaluable, allowing us not only to understand, but also to actively contribute to the functioning of a key sector: the hotel and tourism industry. Acquiring intercultural experience has been a jewel in our journey. Interacting with people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds has not only broadened our perspective, but also improved our interpersonal skills. As professionals, we are immersed in the development of a receptive and open attitude towards the cultural diversity that is presented to us. We promote healthy coexistence and harmonious interaction in social contexts. We take care of our roots and use the knowledge of foreign languages as the basis of our identity in order to participate actively and responsibly in society. En un mundo en constante cambio y evolución, el papel de la educación y la formación docente se vuelve cada vez más relevante. La necesidad de adaptarse a las nuevas realidades, a la diversidad de contextos y a las demandas de las sociedades contemporáneas, requiere de un enfoque educativo que trascienda las fronteras del aula y se adentre en el complejo entramado de relaciones y saberes que constituyen la educación. Es en este escenario que surge el II Ciclo Internacional de Formación e Investigación Docente, como un espacio de encuentro, diálogo y construcción colectiva en torno a la resignificación de las prácticas educativas. Este es el resultado del apoyo brindado por la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) a través del Fondo de Donaciones del Programa Estabilización Comunitaria (CSA) de la Agencia de EE.UU. para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID) como parte de la estrategia de fortalecimiento institucional y asistencia técnica a la Universidad de Cartagena a través del Observatorio de Desplazamiento, Conflictos y Construcción de Paz (ODESCONPAZ) que de manera articulada conformaron la Red universitaria de atención y seguimiento integral migrante (RUASIM). Este ejercicio de análisis e investigación da cuenta de la consolidación del pensamiento de la red y de la articulación de acciones para dar respuesta al fenómeno migratorio en la ciudad de Cartagena y de las posibilidades que posee la academia para coadyuvar en la búsqueda de soluciones frente a este tema de la mano con los organismos de cooperación comprometidos con la promoción de los Derechos Humanos.

Teaching practicum report: An introspection through my internship II

To make learning English easier for participants, a new approach has been proposed, which is using functional rather than prescriptive grammar. Derewianka and Jones (2010) state that “the idea of language use as functional, linked to the purposes for which humans use language in the many social contexts they inhabit; for example, to explain, to entertain, to instruct, to describe. The grammar is organized into three ‘bundles of functions’ or ‘metafunctions’ which relate to the major functions language plays in our lives: enabling us to represent our experience of the world (the ‘experiential’ function); enabling us to interact with others in the world (the ‘interpersonal’ function); and enabling us to create coherent and cohesive texts (the ‘textual’ function)”. Hence the idea that language and grammar can be taught without rules. We attempt to teach Functional grammar with an approach that students can recognize easily, that is TBL.

This experience allowed me to apply and consolidate my critical thinking skills and propose solutions to problems in different contexts. I used a combination of theoretical knowledge acquired during my academic process in the Foreign Languages program and practical aspects of professional reality learned through my teaching practicum. I contributed to improving the educational process at the school where I carried out my practicums, strengthening its educational project. In addition, I had the opportunity to demonstrate that I am a professional capable of proposing and using scientific research as a tool that enables the improvement of sociocultural processes, especially those in the field of education. Another important point to highlight is that, through this experience, due to the need to be aware of the particularities and advantages of the Montessori method and the lack of available information about its applicability to the teaching of foreign languages, I had the opportunity to learn about different approaches, theories, and methodologies in the field of education. This allowed me to have a broader and more diverse perspective on education. Through reflective practice, I concluded that the most significant impact of this educational experience on me was its promotion of my professional and personal growth. This led me to become an educational actor capable of developing comprehensive teaching processes that are human-centered and responsive to the needs of my students. These processes offer meaningful learning that stimulates motivation and interest, and that encourages students to play an active role in their education and to take ownership of it. This, in turn, allows students to recognize themselves as members of society and to reflect on how they can contribute to it from their role.
